How to lower your heating bill

by Frugal Finder

With winter starting to have its grasp on North America, its time to realize how much money it cost to heat our homes, and how to be frugal and cut that cost down. Nobody wants to be cold, but with a few minor adjustments and change of habits, you can save and be comfortable. The first thing is if you have a programmable thermostat, make sure it is set to 68 degrees or below when no one is home. There is really no need for the heat to be kicking on when everybody is at work or school.Keeping the thermostat below 70 can save around 10% off your total heating cost.Another option is to use your ceiling fans. If you have a high pitch ceiling, turning you fans in reverse mode draws the heat down to where you are instead of being wasted at the ceiling level.Trying these two simple things will result in saving you money.
